Jayson & Amanda Mullen - Knoxville, TN based Wedding Photographers

I’m Jayson Mullen, owner of Jayson Mullen Design & Photography where I work as a wedding photographer with my beautiful wife Amanda. I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and moved to Tennessee in 2002. Tennessee is where my life changed for the better. It is where I met the love of my life, and found my passion for wedding photography. The passion was ignited with our very own wedding, and how the photographer we chose told a story with her photos it was more than just snapping shots, she was stringing together the memory of that day to forever look back on. From that moment forward, Amanda and I have together pursued our dream of becoming wedding photographers together.

We start our process by taking the time to get to truly get to know you. What are your passions? What are your interests? What is your love story? We want to know you and understand you. This part of our process is essential to how we tell your unique story through photography on one of the most important days of your life.

Together, Amanda and I make a strong dynamic team. We love to have fun, laugh, and make memories. The beautiful part about our photography is that our memories don’t fade- you can always look back and feel the same emotion you felt on your wedding day. We absolutely love what we do and we can’t wait to be a part of your big day too. We tell a story, a love story, that’s all yours.

Here is a little more about Jayson & Amanda

What is the best part about being a husband and wife photography team? The best part is that we know each other so well! We can exchange a look sometimes and know exactly what we need to communicate or do. It’s a look across the ceremony site asking, “did you get that shot?” and a smile for the yes.

How did you first get into photography & design? I got in to graphic design early on in life. I was 15, and in high school when I figured out what this whole thing was. I found out you could do art on a computer all day long, and get paid for it… I really thought it was a prank. I was hooked. I have now been doing this for over half my life and I love every minute of it. Photography came naturally. I think the moment I picked up a camera, it just felt right to me. I love seeing the natural beauty of things, and what better way to see something than to see it and remember it forever in a photograph.

What is your favorite moment to capture on a wedding day? Jayson – My favorite moment to capture during the wedding day is the first realization of the moment. There is always that moment when the bride or the groom, or both stop what they are doing, and get that nervous/excited look and say, “I’m getting married today…” I love that moment. I remember my own, and it makes me fall in love with what I do again, every time. Amanda – I have two favorite moments. The grooms face as he sees his bride for the first time, and the father of the bride’s face when he sees his little girl on her wedding day. These moments are precious to me because they are the moments I still cherish from my own wedding.

How do you balance a husband and wife team with three little ones? Help… lots and lots of help! We have the best grandmas (Gaga & Grammy), wonderful family, and friends two people could ask for. This is our passion and what we love to do, and we have so much support.

What is a “day in the life” of a wedding photographer? To type this whole thing out would probably be an over share of information… so let me surmise it with a list: tired feet, Waffle House, faces hurt from smiling, “photographer hand”, belly laughs, dancing feet, a happy heart, and cherished memories.
